Happy Thanksgiving everyone! What a beautiful day to enjoy family and friends as we feast and fellowship with those we love.
I wrote a post earlier this week but wanted to share a quick thought as the day begins.
I have been dreading Thanksgiving all week now, but trying to stay busy which is not hard this time of year! I took the easy way this year and purchased a smoked turkey and Scott is making a country ham. The sides are the easy part, right?!
My mind fast forwards to having the meal prepared and everyone seated at the table, talking and laughing and just enjoying the day.
The other night I couldn’t sleep as I just kept thinking about Rudy and how we would miss him. He left home when he was around 22, but would always come home for the holidays...happy and thankful!
I got up early this morning to spend some time with Jesus. He is the anchor for my soul and I just had to get a grip on today and whatever emotions I will have and that of my family. It will be hard for all of us.
I was reading in Ephesians and Ephesians 5: 19-20 spoke to me.
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Always give thanks...Always give thanks to God for everything. It is something I had written on my facebook page a few days ago.
Give Me Thanks
Then my sweet friend, Annette, from Bible Study, texted me this morning and said she was praying for me. I shared the verse I had just read and would you believe, she had just read the same verse!
So God keeps pointing me to this ...Give Me thanks...Give Me thanks. Tears flowed as I was touched at how my God, so rich in mercy, cared so sweetly for me this Thanksgiving morning.
Yes, He chose to take my 25-year-old son, but continues to overwhelm me with His goodness...his compassion...his love.
He is there to comfort me as He knows that today will be hard...He chose to take something so very precious to me...nothing can fill the hole of his absence.
But I truly believe that God would not put me in this place of sorrow if it was not good.
In ALL Things
So today I give thanks for All things. I give thanks to God even in this. He is so worthy of my praise!
I wish I knew how to share music video’s with you. If you get a chance and need a little encouragement, look up “My Living Hope” by Phil Wickham. I find it on YouTube pretty easy.
It’s a beautiful reminder that Jesus Christ is our living hope. Actually, I’ll post it on my facebook page for you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! May God fill you with the peace that only He can give.
BitterSweet...absolutely
